Abstract
This study is made to explore the factors affecting the acceptance of menstruation of the adolescent girls.
Subjects were 548 students, enrolled in second year class of a private girls¢¥ high school in Seoul, in Nov., 1975.
They were asked their opinions on menstruation and eight factors, chosen by author, to be expected to affect the acceptance of menstruation (eight factors: restriction of action during the menstrual period, dysmenorrhea, restriction of action by mother since the menarche, opinions on one¢¥s femininity, marriage and motherhood, opinions of family on one¢¥s femininity, and ravairy with brothers).
Obtained data is analyzed statistically by means of analysis of variance and the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient to observe the difference in the degree of acceptance of menstruation according to the reaction on eight factors, and the correlation between the degree of acceptance of menstruation and the reaction on each factors.
Results are as follows
1) There is no significant difference in the degree of acceptance of menstruation according to the reaction on eight factors (F=2. 32, df=2, 21, P>O. 05).
2) Opinions on one¢¥s femininity (¥ã=.104, df=540, P<0. 05), absence of dysmeno¡þrrhea (¥ã =.330, df=546, P<0.01), opinions on marriage (¥ã =127, df=519, P<0.01)and motherhood (¥ã =.194, df=537, P<0. 01)correlate positively at significant level with the degree of acceptance of menstruation.
